Game Plan: Design Students Assist New Hockey Documentary

Communication design majors spent the fall semester creating promotional materials for a new documentary film, Hockey Courage, which opens to the public, Friday, December 24.
br />The 90-minute film is a real-life portrayal of sled hockey, an exciting alternative sport for physically challenged individuals. The documentary profiles the lives, challenges, and successes of Mason Newbold (of Lockport) and Adam Page (of Lancaster), their families, and team members.

When the public reads about or views the film, they’ll be seeing designs—including film titles, credits, logos, promotional video teasers, posters, and postcards—created by students of Stan Friesen, associate professor of design

Film screenings are Friday, December 24, through Friday, December 31, at 4:00, 6:00, and 8:00 p.m. at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Centre, 639 Main Street, downtown Buffalo. The film screenings coincide with the World Junior Hockey Championships and several other hockey tournaments in the area. Each showing will have celebrity sports announcers, writers, and athletes in attendance.
