Geneseo Edges Men's Hockey, 4-3

Buffalo State fell to 6-16-0 overall and 2-10 in the SUNYAC after losing a heartbreaking game 4-3, at home against the 15th ranked Geneseo Knights. Geneseo improved their mark to 14-5-4 and 8-2-2 in the conference with the victory.

After giving up a goal in the opening minutes of the first period, Buffalo State junior Josh Magnuson (Chisago, MN/Lincoln Stars) knotted the game at 1-1 with just over half the period to play. Geneseo would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission on a powerplay goal with 0:05 left on the clock.

Bengal forward Greg Prybylski (Cheektowaga/Capitol Centre Pride) scored the second period's only goal to tie the game at 2-2. Buffalo State captured the lead for the first time in the game just 40 seconds in the third period when sophomore Mike Zalewski (Grand Rapids, MI/Bancroft Hawks) scored his tenth goal of the season. Buffalo State couldn't hold on to the lead as Geneseo scored the game-tying goal at the 6:32 mark of the third period. Blue Knight Justin Corio sealed the game for Geneseo on a powerplay goal with 2:02 remaining in the game. Bengal goaltender Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Abitibi Eskimos) made 38 stops as Buffalo State was outshot in the contest 42-20.

Buffalo State will host a game with playoff implications against Brockport tomorrow at the Buffalo State Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
