Geneseo Rallies Past Women's Basketball, 62-59

GENESEO, NY--Geneseo (9-6/4-2) overcame a 14-point first-half deficit to edge visiting Buffalo State (6-11/3-5), 62-59, tonight in a SUNYAC game in Kuhl Gymnasium.

The Knights assembled a 17-4 run to close the first half, but Buffalo State still carried a slight 32-31 lead into the intermission. Geneseo took the lead for good at 40-39 with 15:28 remaining, and extended the lead to as many as nine. Buffalo State closed the gap to 60-59 with 12 seconds remaining, but Geneseo hit a pair of free throws to ice the win.

Gina Apa (Buffalo/McKinley) and Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) led a balanced Buffalo State offense with 11 points each. Annie Verdino paced Geneseo with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Buffalo State will visit first-place Cortland in another conference match-up on Saturday.
