Geneseo Tops Men's Hockey, 4-1
GENESEO, NY--Geneseo (16-8/10-3) scored three power-play goals in a 4-1 win over visiting Buffalo State (11-11-2/5-7-1) before a crowd of 1,776 tonight at Ira Wilson Arena.
The Knights led 2-0 after a pair of power-play goals in the opening period, before Cody Cole (St. Catharines, ON) put Buffalo State on the scoreboard with assists from Paul Michael Rivest (Whitby, ON) and Tyler Soehner (Baden, ON) midway through the second period. Geneseo added another goal late in the second and then put the game out of reach in with an insurance marker in the third.
The Knights outshot Buffalo State, 39-19, and went 3 for 10 with the man-advantage. The Bengals were 0 for 9 on the power play. Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ) made 35 saves in goal for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will wrap up its regular season on Friday at Fredonia. A win for the Bengals would clinch a home game in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs for the first time in program history.
