Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic to Benefit Honors Program

The Buffalo State Foundation will present the 18th annual Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic on Monday, August 31, at the Brookfield Country Club in Clarence, NY.

Presented by Pepsi, the event includes a lunch buffet, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and an awards dinner. Michael Bonitatibus, ’79, president of Millington Lockwood Business Interiors, and Gerald L. Cornish, '90, senior vice president-wealth management and wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, & Smith, are co-chairs of the event.

Proceeds support Buffalo State’s Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, which is funded entirely by private donations. The program provides deserving students with scholarships, an honors lounge, special on-campus housing, and opportunities for internships, seminars, and research.

“The scholarships help enable students to attend college who otherwise could not afford to and provide support for service learning, research with faculty mentors, and special seminars,” said Kathryn Neeson, director of special events and protocol.

At last year’s event, 140 golfers and 12 tennis players helped raise more than $76,000.

There is still room for interested golfers or tennis players. For more information, visit giving.buffalostate.edu/scholarshipclassic or contact Neeson at (716) 878-4895.
