The Graduate School will host an open house on Saturday, September 10, from 10:00 a.m. until noon in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall.

The event offers guests the opportunity to meet faculty, learn about financial aid options, explore the campus, find out how to apply to programs, and speak with other students.

According to Kimberly Jackson, assistant dean for strategic and enrollment planning and coordinator of multidisciplinary studies, 85 prospective students attended last year’s open house, and the school hopes for 100 to 125 this year.

“There is much to consider when selecting a graduate school,” said Jackson. “Taking the time to speak with faculty and student support representatives can be the first step.”

The Graduate School’s open house is designed like a fair, with individual tables to provide an informal format and face-to-face interaction with professors. In addition to showcasing the school's 62 programs, the open house also will include information about many supporting departments on campus, such as financial aid and student services.

The event will also highlight some of Buffalo State’s new graduate offerings, including its master of public administration in public and nonprofit management, graduate certificate in public management, and master of science in professional applied and computational mathematics. An individual breakout session is planned for the newly named higher education and student affairs administration program (formerly student personnel administration).

“This event helps students discover that opportunities for a great career begin with graduate studies at Buffalo State.”

The Graduate School anticipates more than 450 new students this year. More than 1,500 students are currently enrolled in graduate study at Buffalo State. For more information or to register for the open house, please visit the Graduate School's website.
