Grammy Winner Kidjo to Perform at PAC February 14

Grammy-winning African singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo will present her mix of West African grooves, American rhythm and blues, samba beats, and sophisticated jazz harmonies in a performance Friday, February 14, at 8:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.

Kidjo’s new album, Eve, released January 28, has already has hit No. 1 on the World Music Charts. Touted as a tribute to women, it includes the vocals of various female performers and also features jazz musicians, including bassist Christian McBride and Benin-born guitarist Lionel Loueke.

The singer, who just released her autobiography, Spirit Rising: My Life, My Music (Harper Design), serves as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and her Batonga Foundation builds educational opportunities for girls.

Kidjo’s performance is part of the Buffalo State’s Great Performers Series presented by M&T Bank. Tickets are $40 for the lower tier; $35 for the upper tier; $32 for seniors and Buffalo State faculty and staff. Students may purchase tickets one hour prior to the concert for $15.
