Millions of dollars of funded research is underway at the Great Lakes Center and a new boat is arriving at the field station this month. These are just two of the highlights to be discussed during the Great Lakes Center’s annual Open House. Join Alexander Karatayev, director of the center, and its research scientists, on Thursday, April 28, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Science Building 250 to learn more about the center’s recent and current activities.

The activities—which range from monitoring Lake Erie’s health to identifying high-risk invasive species from the Ponto-Caspian region—will provide guests with an understanding of the research scientists are pursuing, much of which is providing policymakers with critical environmental data.

Karatayev and the scientists and faculty members who work with the center will discuss 10 currently funded projects; peer-reviewed publications and presentations; use of the center resources to educate undergraduate and graduate students; and upgrades and improvements at the field station.

Faculty, staff, and students are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
