Buffalo State senior Monique Hanks (Liverpool/Liverpool) became just the eighth women's basketball player in school history to score 1,000 career points, on Thursday night.

Hanks entered Thursday's game against Daemen with 990 career points, and wasted little time achieving the milestone. She went 5-for-6 to open the game and hit a lay-up just 9:42 into the contest to hit the 1,000-point plateau before the home crowd. She finished the game with 14 points, six rebounds and four steals.

With 1,004 points and 577 rebounds, Hanks became just the second player in Buffalo State history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. The only other player to achieve this feat was two-time All-American and Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Famer Arlene Eagan. Hanks is currently tied for fifth on the school's all-time rebounding list, and is on pace to finish second in career steals and third in blocked shots.

An elementary education major, Hanks is currently second on the Bengals in scoring and rebounding, averaging career bests with 12.2 points and 8.2 rebounds-per-game. In addition, she leads the team and SUNYAC with 69 steals.

Hanks and the Bengals are currently 10-9 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Buffalo State will play the first of four straight home conference games on Tuesday against Brockport, before wrapping up the regular season with a pair of road games.
