Buffalo State senior Richard Harris (Rochester/Hilton) won the NCAA Division III Championship in the 110-meter high hurdles today with a school and stadium record time of 14.12 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Harris became the first Bengal to win a national championship since Daryl Brownlee won the indoor 55-meter dash in 1986. He is the first athlete in school history to earn indoor and outdoor All-America honors in the same season, after finishing third in the 55-meter hurdles at the indoor championships.

Harris, who transferred this season from Roberts Wesleyan, qualified for today's finals with the second fastest time in yesterday's prelims with a time of 14.42.

Freshman Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) also competed at the national championships, but did not succefully clear a height in yesterday's high jump competion. Orosz qualified for the championship meet with a school record height of 5 feet, 6 inches.
