HEA Students Heading to National Summer Internships

Several students in the higher education and student affairs administration (HESAA) program have secured highly sought-after summer internships at universities across the country.

Students competed with their national peers through two internship programs—the Association of College and University Housing Officers - International and the National Orientation Directors Association—to gain this valuable professional experience.

"Because enrollments in higher education are down nationally, the job market has become even more competitive,” said Kimberly Kline, chair and associate professor of the Higher Education Administration (HEA) Department. “These students really had to work hard to earn these selective placements, which will help leverage their positions and give them an edge when they’re out in today’s workplace.”

Buffalo State’s HESAA curriculum includes concentrations in administration, community education, counseling and student development, and research and evaluation. Thanks to the department’s extensive, 1,500-plus alumni base, HEA students have found internship positions around the globe.
