Special correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show, contributor to CNN, and host of National Geographic Explorer, Lisa Ling comes to Buffalo State, Thursday, April 8, to discuss her career and how journalism plays an important, positive role in the world around us.

The event takes place at 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.

A former co-host of ABC’s hit daytime talk show The View, Ling has used her role as a newsperson to focus on positive social change. Previous topics of Ling’s news coverage have included examinations of prostitution, drug abuse, and social disparity in North Korea.

Ling’s sister, Laura, was one of two journalists detained in North Korea in 2009. Lisa campaigned vigorously for her sister’s release and drew widespread attention to the two imprisoned journalists’ plight. Laura Ling and Euna Lee were eventually pardoned and released in August 2009.

nt is free to Buffalo State students with a ticket and $5 for all others. Tickets are available through the Rockwell Hall and Student Union box offices.
