Michael LeVine, M.B.A., has been appointed vice president for finance and management at Buffalo State, president Aaron Podolefsky announced today.

LeVine (pronounced luh-VINE) comes to Buffalo State after 28 years in progressively responsible positions at the University at Buffalo. “Michael has a proven track record of accomplishments and a reputation for successfully dealing with difficult issues by engaging stakeholders in determining strategies and solutions,” Podolefsky said. “His experience as a university administrator and as a senior executive, and his understanding of the many challenges of higher education administration, will be an asset to the institution.I was especially impressed with his collaborative management style, a skill set that makes for an excellent fit at Buffalo State. We are very happy that he is joining our team.”

LeVine is a two-time graduate of UB, earning a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in accounting in 1978, and a master of business administration with an emphasis in applied information systems analysis in 1991.

“I was very impressed with the vision and focus of President Podolefsky and his leadership team,” LeVine said, “as well as with the attitude toward the campus of the faculty and staff I met both during the search process and during the Buffalo State-UB shared services sessions we held at the two campuses. I am honored to have been selected as the vice president for finance and management at Buffalo State, and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to its ambitious and exciting future.”

LeVine also served as deputy operations manager for the Research Foundation for the State University of New York at UB, and as assistant treasurer for the Buffalo 2020 Development Corporation. Before joining UB in 1984, he worked for six years as a state accounts auditor for the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

LeVine, who assumes his duties at Buffalo State on July 26, follows the retiring Voldemar Innus, who has served as the university’s interim vice president for finance and management since October 2011.
