Buffalo State College’s Literacy Center is accepting applications for children in grades K-12 who need help with literacy skills.
Two programs, both of which begin in mid-October, are offered.
A Literacy Specialist Clinic program, the more intensive of the two programs, will meet Thursdays, from 4:45 p.m.- 6:15 p.m., at a cost of $100 per student. A Classroom Teacher Diagnosis and Tutoring program will meet Tuesdays, from 4:45 p.m.-6:15 p.m., also at a cost of $100.
Each offers diagnosis of reading and writing skills, as well as beginning tutoring sessions that address students’ strengths and weaknesses in literacy. Tutors are graduate students completing their literacy specialist certification or master’s degree in education and work under the guidance of reading experts. Parents will receive diagnostic reports at the conclusion of the semester.
For further information and application materials, please call the Buffalo State College Literacy Center at (716) 878-5917. Applications are due Sept. 30.
