who will talk about their experiences in gaining success in the workplace. Panelists are Jennifer Gress from BlueCross BlueShield, Sarah Tanbakuchi from M&T Bank, and Laura Groschadl, a law clerk for New York State Court of Appeals Judge Eugene M. Fahey. Breaking Stereotypes, Breaking Boundaries: Life Stories of Muslim Feminists from Myanmar

Thet Su Htwe, a physician and activist, and Kyaw Thein, a civil engineer and activist, will talk about their life experiences as Muslim feminists living in Myanmar, and how their beliefs, attitudes, and actions as feminists automatically leads them to defy expectations and break boundaries.

Panel discussion featuring Thet Su Htwe; Kyaw Thein; Thamora Fishel, associate director of Cornell University’s Southeast Asia Program; Rhoda Linton, international feminist and activist; and Ph.D. students from Cornell. Panelists will discuss the religious and colonial foundations of the education system in Myanmar and share how race, gender, and religion shape pedagogy and students’ experiences of learning in contemporary Myanmar.

Join the Great Lakes Center for its annual open house as faculty members from the center present the 2018–2019 annual report, and updates on the Great Lakes environmental science graduate program as well as current and future projects. The GLC Field Station Teaching Pavilion is located at the foot of Porter Avenue on the Niagara River. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome.
