A “Musical and Memories Tribute” memorial service will be held for Buffalo State College Distinguished Teaching Professor Dr. Joseph Wincenc at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 4, 2004, in the Performing Arts Center in Rockwell Hall on the campus at 1300 Elmwood Ave. Dr. Wincenc died on Apr. 5, 2003, in Boston.

The service, which is open to the public, is hosted by Carol Wincenc, Dr. Wincenc’s youngest daughter and concertizing flutist, with assistance from his friends and colleagues and the many organizations with which he was associated, including, the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra, the Amherst Symphony Orchestra, the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Suzuki Strings, the Buffalo Chamber Music Society, the Buffalo Community Music School, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Buffalo Seminary and Buffalo State College.

The musical program will be interspersed with spoken and read tributes from the stage and will feature an “open play” at the end for anyone who wants to perform in the closing. Dr. Wincenc's youngest grandchild, Nicola Wincenc-Webster, will also perform.

A reception in the Burchfield-Penney Art Gallery will follow.
