Men's Basketball Drops OT Heartbreaker at New Paltz
NEW PALTZ, NY--Buffalo State (4-8/2-4) rallied to force overtime, but New Paltz (6-7/2-4) hit a layup with 10 seconds remaining in the extra period to escape with a 75-74 victory in a SUNYAC game today in downstate New York.
Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/ Xaverian) led Buffalo State with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jamar Gray (Rochester/ Bishop Kearney) added 17 points, and Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/ Queens Vocational) had 10 points and seven boards.
Buffalo State trailed 41-27 at the first intermission. In the second half, the Bengals chipped away at the deficit and took its first lead of the game at 58-57 with 5:30 remaining, but regulation ended with the teams knotted at 66-66. The Bengals opened overtime with a 6-0 run, but the Hawks responded with a 7-0 run of their own to close the game.
Buffalo State fell to 0-6 on the road this season.
Buffalo State will return to the road next Friday for an 8 p.m. meeting at Oswego.
