Men’s Basketball Falls at Cortland, 77-73
CORTLAND, NY—Cortland (6-2/2-0) overcame a fast start by Buffalo State (2-2/1-1) to earn a 77-73 victory in a SUNYAC game tonight at Alumni Arena.
Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) led Buffalo State with 27 points and had eight rebounds. Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) scored 19 points, and Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) added nine points and 11 boards.
Buffalo State jumped out to a 10-point lead at 18-8 early in the first half, but the Red Dragons rallied and led 40-35 at the intermission. The Bengals mounted a 15-0 run early in the second half, but Cortland had an answer again, reclaiming the lead for good at 53-51 with 11:23 remaining.
The Bengals will host the Holiday Inn Invitational next Friday at Saturday. Buffalo State will open the tourney against Fisher on Friday at 8 p.m. The early game in the opening round will feature Worcester State and Houghton.
