Men’s Basketball Holds Off SUNYIT, 81-76
BUFFALO, NY— Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Buffalo State (2-1/1-0) edged SUNYIT (2-2/0-1), 81-76, despite blowing a 24-point advantage in the SUNYAC season-opener tonight at the Sports Arena.
Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) had 18 points and six assists for Buffalo State, and Neal Wilkins (Middletown/Middletown) added 16 points and six boards.
Buffalo State assembled an early 15-0 run and led by as many as 24 in the first half and taking a 45-28 lead into the intermission. SUNYIT chipped away in the second half and took the lead at 68-66 with 4:41 remaining. Buffalo State answered and regained the lead at 72-71 with 2:32 remaining and held on for the win.
Buffalo State will next play at Cortland tomorrow at 8 p.m.
