Men's Basketball Outlasts Oswego, 81-76

BUFFALO, NY—Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) scored a game-high 20 points as host Buffalo State (9-4/4-1) held off Oswego (7-6/3-2), 81-76, in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon at the Sports Arena. The win was the 999th for Buffalo State as a varsity program.

Bubba Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) scored 13 points and had seven rebounds and seven assists. John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) added 10 points.

Todd Franze (Westfield/Westfield) led Oswego with 17 points, but had 10 turnovers. Mat Burridge (Hannibal/Hannibal) had 16 points and 10 boards. Mahamoud Jabbi (Bronx/Alfred E. Smith) added eight points and 13 boards, and Tom Downing (Staten Island/Curtis) had nine points and eight assists.

In a game that featured eight lead changes, Buffalo State jumped out of the gates at led by as many at 13 early before closing the first half with a 42-35 lead. Oswego battled back to grab the lead for much of the second half, but Buffalo State pulled back in front for good with 3:15 remaining. The Bengals led 77-76 with 35 seconds remaining, and hit four free throws in the closing seconds to ice the win.

Buffalo State will host Potsdam on Friday at 8 p.m.
