Men's Basketball Races Past New Paltz, 96-83

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State’s (11-11/6-8) bench outscored the New Paltz (10-12/3-10) reserves, 34-7, en route to a 96-83 home victory in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena.

Buffalo State was led by Dion Mozelle’s (Rego Park/Xaverian) 21 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Antonio Samedi (Jamaica/Queens Vocational) dominated in the paint, scoring a career-high 11 points, and had seven rebounds and seven of the Bengals’ 11 blocks. PeeWee Guiden (Bronx/Wade Hampton) also scored 12. Bubba Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) had 11 points and six assists, and DJ Nubine-Mitchell (Marina, CA/Seaside) chipped in 11 points.

Amseshem Foluke-Henderson (Queens/American Studies) paced New Paltz with a double-double 20 points and 12 rebounds. Tony Cannon (New York/Millbrook) also had 20 points and had five assists. John and Matt Hauser (E. Williston/Chaminade) added 20 and 10 points respectively.

Buffalo State took advantage of an 11-0 run after overcoming and early six-point deficit, and led 48-39 at halftime. The Hawks rallied to even the score at 61-61 with just over 12 minutes remaining, but Buffalo State pulled away again and raced to the 13-point victory. The Bengals dominated nearly every statistical category, outscoring the Hawks 60-34 in the paint, 31-13 off turnovers and 30-10 on the break.

Buffalo State will host Fredonia in the final home game of the season on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
