Men's Basketball Shoots Past SUNYIT, 99-85

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (8-4/3-1) shot 50-percent from the field and defeated visiting SUNYIT (7-6/2-3), 99-85, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) led Buffalo State with 23 points and had nine rebounds. Bubba Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) had 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, and John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) had 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

Chris Reaves (Syracuse/Herkimer CC) paced SUNYIT with 25 points, eight boards and six assists. Chris LaBoard (Bronx/Mohawk Valley CC) added 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, and Chris Plante (Whitesboro/Whitesboro) had 15 points.

Buffalo State led by as many as 11 points in the early going, before closing an explosive first half with a 52-46 advantage. The Bengals opened the second stanza with a 7-0 run and never let the Wildcats threaten again. Buffalo State hit 36 of 72 from the field and shot 6 of 14 from long range. SUNYIT shot 43-percent from the floor and was 11 of 31 (36-percent) from 3-point territory.

Buffalo State will host Oswego tomorrow at 4 p.m.
