Men's Basketball Tops Niagara College in Exhibtion Game, 78-70
BUFFALO, NY—Kharey “Bubba” Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) led five Bengals in double-figures with 15 points as Buffalo State defeated visiting Niagara College (Ont.), 78-70, in an exhibition game today at the Sports Arena.
Freshman Antonio Samedi (Jamaica/Queens Vocational) scored 12 points, and Neal Wilkins (Middletown/Middletown), Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) and James Tyndal (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) all added 11 points. John Lawal (Hempstead/Uniondale) had seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Buffalo State overcame a tough shooting performance, hitting just 37-percent from the field. The Bengals outscored the Knights 22-11 from the free throw line, despite making just 56-percent from the charity stripe. Buffalo State never trailed, but Niagara gave the Bengals a scare, closing the gap to just two at 65-63 with just 3:40 remaining.
Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play on Tuesday at Cortland at 8 p.m.
