Buffalo State men's basketball player Joshua Becker (Hamburg/Frontier) became the 17th player in school history to surpass the 1,000 career point mark on January 20 at Geneseo.

The senior forward needed just three points to reach the milestone entering the game, and got it out of the way early as he hit a three-pointer less than two minutes into the contest. Becker went on to score 26 points in the 80-68 loss to bring his career total to 1,023.

A former Division I volleyball player at Mercyhurst, Becker transferred to Buffalo State prior to the 2001-02 season. Now in his third and final season with the Bengals, he currently leads the team averaging 18.4 points-per-game and is on pace to finish as the 10th leading scorer in Buffalo State's 75-year varsity history before the end of the regular season.

Becker, a health and wellness major, earned First Team All-SUNYAC and Second Team All-Region honors a season ago and was named to Street and Smith's Preseason All-America Team this year. As Becker and the Bengals prepare for the stretch run this season, their goals are set on a repeat SUNYAC title and a return trip to the NCAA playoffs.
