Men's Hockey Blasts No. 10 Geneseo, 7-0; Clinches SUNYAC Playoff Berth

GENESEO, NY--Sean Burke (Barrie, ON/St. Peter's) had three goals and two assists as Buffalo State (9-11-1/6-5) stunned the 10th-ranked team in the nation Geneseo (13-6-2/7-4) on its own ice, winning 7-0, tonight in a SUNYAC game at Ira S. Wilson Arena.

The win clinches just the second SUNYAC playoff berth in school history, and the first since 2001-02.

Buffalo State shocked the home crowd, taking a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. The Bengals added another goal in the second period. Buffalo State blew the game open in the third period, as Geneseo pulled its goalie for a seven-minute span early in the third period, allowing Buffalo State to score three empty net goals.

Geneseo outshot Buffalo State 43-26, but Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was outstanding, stopping all 43 shots for his second shutout of the season. Jason Hill (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Greg Prybylski (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) each had a goal and two assists. Mike DeMarco (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Sean O'Donoghue (Carbondale, IL/Carbondale) also scored. Sean O'Connell (Buffalo/St. Francis) added two assists.

Buffalo State will play at Brockport tomorrow at 6 p.m.
