Men's Hockey Falls to Fourth Ranked Plattsburgh, 3-2

Buffalo State fell to 5-12 overall and 1-6 in the SUNYAC after losing 3-2 to Plattsburgh at home tonight. The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked fourth in the nation, improved their record to 14-4-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the SUNYAC.

Plattsburgh jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a powerplay goal from David Friel at the 12:24 mark in the first period. The Cardinals would add a goal to their lead in the second period to go up 2-0 heading into the final stanza. Senior captain Mark Yoder (Ft. Wayne, IN/Grand Rapids) cut the Plattsburgh lead to 2-1 just 34 seconds into the third period. Eight minutes later the Cardinals scored the eventual game-winner on Bryant Wilson's wrap-around goal. Bengal defenseman Sean Castagna(San Jose, CA/Bonnyville Pontiacs) took a slapshot from the point that beat Plattsburgh goalie Tony Seariac to get Buffalo State within one with 16 seconds left in regulation. The Cardinals were able to hang on to get the win and remain undefeated in the conference. Buffalo State goaltender Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Abitibi Eskimos) made 28 saves in the game.

The Bengals will host Potsdam tomorrow night at the Buffalo State Ice Arena. Face-off is set for 7:00 pm.
