Matt Zemen (Rocky River, OH) scored four goals to spoil Buffalo State's home opener tonight as Fredonia (2-1) defeated the Bengals (1-2) by a 6-3 margin in the first game of the Buffalo State Invitational.

Buffalo State opened the scoring with its first of three power play goals when defenseman Sean Castagna (San Jose, CA/Ballarmine Prep) deflected a pass from Greg Prybylski (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) past the Fredonia goalie. The Blue Devils responed with the next three goals, two by Zemen, and a shorthanded goal by Adam Haberman (Novi, MI).

Prybylski pulled the Bengals back in the game early in the third period with his first of two goals, but Fredonia exploded for three more goals in a span of 3:19 to ice the game. Joe Muli (Sioux Lookout, ON) scored once, and Zemen added his third and fourth of the night. Prybylski added an unassisted tally late in the game to complete the scoring.

The Buffalo State Invitational will continue tomorrow evening, as Fredonia will face Hobart. The tournament will finish on Saturday with Hobart and Buffalo State squaring off.
