Men’s Hockey Season Ends in Quarterfinals at Fredonia
FREDONIA, NY—Fredonia (15-8-3) scored twice in the third period in a 4-2 win to end visiting Buffalo State’s (10-12-4) in a SUNYAC quarterfinal contest tonight at Steele Hall.
The Blue Devils scored the lone goal in the opening period and extended the lead to 2-0 midway through the second frame. Buffalo State roared back with a pair of power-play goals late in the second stanza. Joe Curry (Indian River, ON) scored first, assisted by Ryan Ramage (Ft. Erie, ON) and Jeff Mok (Richmond Hill, ON). Tyler Soehner (Baden, ON) added a marker with just 11 seconds remaining in the period with assists from Connor King (Brentwood, TN) and Kerry Barchan (Oakville, ON). The Blue Devils took the lead for good, however, 5:13 into the third and added an empty-netter in the closing minute.
Fredonia outshot the Bengals 43-28. Kyle Gunn-Taylor (W. Seneca, NY) made 39 saves for the Bengals.
