Men’s Hockey Tops Geneseo in Overtime, 4-3
GENESEO, NY—Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) scored with 1:15 remaining in overtime to give visiting Buffalo State (2-3/1-0) a 4-3 victory over Geneseo (2-3/2-1) in the Bengals’ SUNYAC season-opener tonight at the Ira S. Wilson Arena.
Nick Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) opened the scoring for the Bengals just 40 seconds into the game. Geneseo rallied with a pair of goals, but Petriello netted his second of the game on the power play midway through the second frame to even the score at 2-2. Geneseo struck again before the period ended, but the Bengals forced overtime when Joe Curry (Indian River, ON/Norwood) scored the lone goal of the third stanza.
Petriello added an assist on the overtime winner to finish with two goals and an assist. Hill had a goal and an assist. Kerry Barchan (Oakville, ON/Queen Elizabeth Park) added two assists for the Bengals.
Buffalo State outshot Geneseo 35-26. Travis Moore (Simcoe, ON/Delhi) made 23 saves in the win.
Buffalo State will play at Brockport tomorrow at 7 p.m.
