Men's Soccer Blows Past Daemen, 5-1

Brian Miller (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) scored twice to lead Buffalo State to its first win of the season today, as the Bengals defeated visiting Daemen, 5-1.

Miller opened the scoring on a penalty kick 15:01 into the game, but Daemen evened the score later in the opening half on a goal by Scott Jablonka. The Bengals dominated play from there, regaining the lead on a goal by Kevin Brenner (Plattsburgh/Plattsburgh) late in the opening period. Buffalo State pulled away in the second half with goals by Joe Watkins (Hamburg/Hamburg), Richard Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West) and a second tally by Miller.

Nick Anthony (N. Rose/Wolcott) and Doug DeCook (Newark/Midlakes) recorded assists for the Bengals. Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) made four saves in goal to earn the victory in goal.

Buffalo State improved to 1-0-1 and will travel to Elmira on Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. start. Daemen fell to 0-2.
