Mens Soccer Defeats Oswego, 2-1
The Buffalo State mens soccer team stayed alive in the SUNYAC playoff hunt today with a 2-1 road-victory over Oswego. With the win the Bengals improved their record to 5-9-2 and 4-4 in the SUNYAC.
Freshman Matt Ketchum (Churchville, Churchville-Chili) opened the games scoring in the first half on a Rich Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West) pass to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead. Junior Dennis Behrens (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster) would add to the Bengals lead with a goal assisted by Erick Hansen (Irving/Lakeshore).
Shawn McDonnell (West Seneca/West Seneca East) was solid in net for the Bengals stopping nine shots, including a crucial penalty kick in the first half to protect Buffalo States 1-0 lead. Buffalo State was out-shot 14-12 in the game.
The Bengals are back in action on Wednesday, October 18, for a SUNYAC road game against Fredonia at 3:00 p.m.
