Men's Soccer Edges Nazareth, 2-1

Prisco Houndanon's (Togo, W. Africa) goal with 5:02 remaining gave Buffalo State (2-1) a 2-1 victory over visiting Nazareth (0-2-2) today in the Bengals' home opener.

Joshua Mitchell (Schenectady/Albany) opened the scoring for Buffalo State in the 11th minute with an assist from Houndanon. Nazareth responded early in the second half to tie the score at one. Buffalo State goalkeeper Shawn McDonell (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) kept the score tied when he stopped a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Houndanon put the Bengals ahead for good with his team-leading third goal of the season with an assist from Amadu Barrie (New York/MLK). McDonell made nine saves in the game.

Buffalo State will next face LaRoche on Saturday at the Bethany Tournament in West Virginia.
