Buffalo State closed out its weekend of SUNYAC competition with a 3-1 victory over nationally-ranked No. 8 Plattsburgh earlier this afternoon. The Bengals snapped Plattsburgh’s unbeaten streak, becoming the first team to defeat them this season.

The Cardinals opened up the scoring in the first half off a shot by Pat Simone (Hartford, CT/Conrad). Andrew Knoll (Duanseburg/Union Endicott) was credited with the assist. The Bengals answered back, midway through the first half, when Randy Haight (Roseville, CA/Woodcreek) notched an unassisted goal. Early in the second half, off a pass from Richard Namulala (Kenmore/Kenmore West), Matt Romano (Eden/Eden) netted the game winning goal for the Bengals. With three minutes left in the game, Namulala scored an insurance goal, putting the Cardinals away. Prisco Houndanon (Benin, West Africa) registered the assist. Shawn McDonell (West Seneca, West Seneca East) tallied nine saves between the pipes, to help elevate his team past the Cardinals.

The Bengals advance to 11-1-2 overall with a 5-1 mark in SUNYAC play. Buffalo State will travel to Geneseo to take on the Knights next Friday at 3 p.m.
