Buffalo State and Medaille traded a pair of early goals before finishing locked in a 1-1 draw in the season opener for both teams today at Coyer Field.

Buffalo State opened the scoring just 5:27 into the game when Brian Miller (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) redirected a pass from newcomer Prisco Houndanon (Benin, West Africa) to give the Bengals the early lead. Medaille got the equalizer just 52 second later when a Buffalo State player inadvertently cleared the ball into his own goal. Medaille's Michel Mendez (Getzville/Williamsville North) was credited with the unassisted goal.

Buffalo State outshot Medaille 14-6, but goalkeeper Matt Casper (Chili/Churchville-Chili) made five saves to keep the game deadlocked. Buffalo State was charged with 21 fouls, compared to just 12 for the Mavericks.

The Bengals will host Daemen this Friday at 4 p.m.
