A Message from President Katherine Conway-Turner

To the Buffalo State Community:

I am deeply saddened to share with you that Buffalo State College student Eddie Hernandez passed away early Saturday morning following a tragic car accident near downtown Buffalo.

A native of Bronx, New York, Eddie was a 21-year-old senior criminal justice major scheduled to graduate in May. He was named to the dean’s list multiple times during his academic career at Buffalo State, most recently in spring 2015. Eddie was also a member of the college’s Educational Opportunity Program and Adelante Estudiantes Latinos.

Please know that staff members from our Counseling Center are available to assist and talk with students, faculty, and staff as we grieve the loss of another member of our Buffalo State family. The Counseling Center, which is located on the second floor of Weigel Health Center, can be reached by phone at (716) 878-4436. In addition, help is available 24 hours a day from Crisis Services at (716) 834-3131.

On behalf of the entire Buffalo State community, I express my heartfelt condolences to the Hernandez family and Eddie’s beloved friends. Our hearts ache for you during this difficult time.
