BUFFALO, NY—Jerome Moss stepped down as head coach of the Buffalo State women’s basketball team today, athletics director Jerry S. Boyes announced today.

Buffalo State finished 9-17 for the second-consecutive season under Moss, marking the first consecutive losing seasons for the Bengals’ women’s basketball program since 1975-77. Moss was 49-56 in four seasons and his teams won just one State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoff game, in 2003.

Buffalo State’s women’s basketball team ranks among the top-25 programs in Division III history for wins with a record of 557-306 since establishing its varsity program in 1965. The Bengals have captured nine SUNYAC Championships and have made 11 trips to the NCAA playoffs, with the most recent coming at the end of the 2001-02 season.

A search for a new head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
