Mozelle Scores 1,000 Point, Men’s Basketball Overtakes Morrisville
MORRISVILLE, NY—Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/ Xaverian) scored his 1,000th career point as Buffalo State (5-9/3-5) won its first road game in eight tries, defeating host Morrisville (4-10/1-7), 78-71, in a SUNYAC game today.
Mozelle finished the game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, bringing his career scoring total to 1,010 points, becoming just the 18th player in school history to reach the 1,000-plateau. Jamar Gray (Rochester/ Bishop Kearney) netted a career-high 29 points, and Neal Wilkins (Middletown/ Middletown) added 15 points off the bench.
Morrisville opened up an 11-point lead in the first half, but the Bengals rallied in the second frame, and took the lead for good with just over nine minutes remaining. Buffalo State shot 60-percent (9 of 15) from 3-point range, compared to Morrisville’s 23-percent (7 of 31) long-range shooting.
Buffalo State will host Geneseo next Friday at 8 p.m.
