The Buffalo News reported on April 26 that Daisy Estelle Anderson, '51, was named Volunteer of Year by Catholic Charities USA.

The national award recognizes her work with the Ladies of Charity over more than 30 years, where she has sewed and assembled baby layettes for new mothers.

News reporter Barbara O’Brien called 95-year-old Anderson an "accomplished seamstress—one of her quilts is in the permanent collection at the Burchfield Penney Art Center." Anderson, who graduated with a bachelor of science in consumer and family studies, was also a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron sorority, a national honor society.
