The culminating Year of the City event played to an overflow crowd at the Burchfield Penney Art Center auditorium, and WIVB-TV covered the event. The panelists were Howard Zemsky, chair of the Buffalo State College Council; Buffalo News columnist Donn Esmonde; Buffalo Common Council members David A. Franczyk and Joseph Golombek Jr.; Jill Jedlicka, executive director of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper; and Eric Walker, cofounder of PUSH Buffalo.

Members of the audience enriched the discussion by asking thought-provoking questions.

Mark Severson, dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences and chair of the Year of the City committee, said, “The Buffalo State community and residents of the city of Buffalo have always worked together. The Year of the City gave us an opportunity to emphasize that relationship, which will continue to grow and deepen because it benefits us both.”
