In the News: 'Business First' Focuses on Silverman, New PR Master’s Program

Deborah Silverman, Buffalo State associate professor of communication, spoke to Business First for a July 20 article about the college’s new master’s program in public relations, which she coordinates. Added to the Graduate School’s offerings last fall, this program expands upon a four-course public relations sequence in the college’s multidisciplinary master’s degree program.

In the article Silverman, who previously served as the treasurer of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), discussed the changing nature of the PR industry and the many skills its employees are expected to possess.

“Most of the jobs in the field these days are integrated communications, which means mostly PR but also social media, advertising, and marketing,” she said. “So our program takes all of that into account.”
