According to a recent profile in the Ken-Ton Bee, Kenmore resident and noted anthropologist Kimberly Hart, associate professor of anthropology, is returning to Turkey. This time, she will be conducting ethnographic research on the street cats and dogs of Istanbul, thanks to a Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant.
Hart told reporter Ethan Power that street animals are treated very differently in Turkey. She said, “Turks seem to feel that these are animals that live on the street and they have a right to be there.” Hart has been traveling to Turkey since the 1980s.
