Timothy Spalti, a veteran of the Marine Corps and current SUNY Buffalo State business student, and Tigo, a bomb-detecting dog deployed with the British Special Forces in Afghanistan, were featured in “Pet Tales,” a regular feature by Anne Neville, reporter for the Buffalo News. Spalti told Tigo’s story—and his own—to Neville. The story describes a partnership that included 30 firefights and the discovery of six improvised explosive devices. Living up to the Marines’ motto—semper fidelis (Latin for "always faithful")—Spalti found a way to save Tigo’s life.
