MANHATTAN—Buffalo State (3-4) mounted a late rally, but came up short at New York University (7-2), 70-62, in a non-conference game today at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center.

Anderson White (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) hit 6 of 9 shots from the field and led the Bengals with 15 points. Sophomore Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) matched his career high with 14 points, and Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian) added eight points and seven rebounds.

For the second-straight day, the Bengals could not capitalize on a fast start, jumping out to a 16-9 advantage. The Violets answered with a 14-3 run and led 35-30 at halftime. NYU extended its lead to 13 points at 58-45 with just over six minutes remaining. Buffalo State responded with a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to four in the final minute, but the Violets hit six free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Buffalo State will visit the College of New Jersey on Monday at 8 p.m. to play its third game in four days.
