Buffalo State rookie defensemen Sean O'Connell (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Week after tallying five points in two Bengal wins this past weekend.

In Friday's 6-3 win over Neumann College, O'Connell recorded three assists on Buffalo State's first, third and fifth goals. Saturday night, O'Connell had two goals for the Bengals. The first came at the 12:56 mark of the first period and tied the game at two. O'Connell went on to score the game-winner on the power-play with 1:01 left on the scoreboard, lifting the Bengals to a 5-4 win over the Knights.

The Buffalo native currently ranks first in point production among the Bengal defensemen with 13. O'Connell's three goals and ten assists place him fifth overall on the Buffalo State scoring leaders.

O'Connell will be back on the blueline for the Bengals on Tuesday, when Buffalo State travels to play Hobart for a 7:00 pm start time.
