Oneonta Blitzes Women's Basketball, 79-56
ONEONTA, NY—Oneonta (4-1/2-0) sprinted out of the gates to a 27-7 lead in the opening 11:15, and cruised to a 79-56 victory over visiting Buffalo State (1-4/0-2) in a SUNYAC contest tonight at Dewar Arena.
Oneonta never trailed and converted an early 20-point lead into a 39-24 halftime advantage. Buffalo State closed the deficit to 11 in the opening minute of the second half, but the Red Dragons pulled away and led by as many as 29 down the stretch. Oneonta shot 47-percent from the field and 46-percent (6 of 13) from 3-point range. Buffalo State hit 31-percent from the floor and was 2 of 10 from long range.
Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) led the Bengals with 12 points and nine rebounds. Gina Apa (Buffalo/McKinley) and Lindsey Smith (Ithaca/Ithaca) added eight points apiece.
Christi Podgorski led the Red Dragons with 12 points off the bench. Megan Bucci and Beth Branham each scored 10.
Buffalo State will visit SUNYIT tomorrow at 2 p.m.
