Paula Witherell Named Assistant to the President for Communications

Paula Witherell has been appointed to the position of assistant to the president for communications at Buffalo State.

Witherell, who will also hold the title of deputy chief of staff, will be responsible for developing and managing all major communication for the Office of the President.

She comes to Buffalo State after 13 years as the public relations director at Hilbert College. 

Witherell received three 2012 Excalibur Awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Buffalo Niagara Chapter, including silver awards for Hilbert’s media relations program and in the special purpose publications category for the college’s holiday card, and a bronze award for Hilbert Weekly, the institution’s faculty and staff newsletter.

A past Excalibur Awards winner, she is a member of PRSA and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Witherell is a two-time graduate of Buffalo State, earning a graduate certificate in public relations strategic management and a bachelor’s degree in communications/broadcasting.
