Philharmonia Presents Concert with Choirs April 30

The Buffalo State Philharmonia presents its final concert of the 2012–2013 season on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall. The concert is free and no ticket is required.

The Philharmonia, a mix of student, faculty, and area professional musicians, will be joined by the Buffalo State Symphonic Choir (directed by Victoria Furby, assistant professor of music) and the Women’s Chorus (directed by John Fleischman, lecturer of music) to perform works by Brahms, Stanford, Anderson, and Dolloff. The Philharmonia is directed by Paul Ferington, lecturer of music.

The program, O How Gently the Stream, will include Stanford’s Irish Rhapsody No.1 for Orchestra; Brahms' Nanie Op. 82 for Chorus and Orchestra and Liebeslieder Waltzes Op. 65 with faculty pianists Emily Boyce and Ivan Docenko; and Dolloff’s arrangements of Irish folk tunes titled Planxty Kelly.
