Play's Ways at the Burchfield Penney Opens January 22
Alfonso Volo's multidisciplinary work transforms common thrift store items into imaginative menageries.
A Western New York-based artist and writer, Volo scours rummage sales and secondhand shops for materials that might not normally be considered objets d'art.
Volo's installation at the Burchfield Penney Art Center’s Useum, Play's Ways, will be a highly interactive presentation. The exhibit features “a playable hare hammock, moveable afghan rolls, a section titled ‘duck child's dreams’ and another ‘called a little warmth for ghostly hare.’”
An opening celebration will take place Friday, February 11, 5:30–7:30 p.m. The exhibit remains on view through June 12.
