Monica Polka (Youngstown/Lewiston-Porter) and Krista Wierzbicki (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) have etched their names into the Buffalo State record books as they have led the Bengals volleyball team to eight consecutive victories and a 19-8 record.

Polka, who already owns the school's career records for attacks, kills and aces, has also claimed the school's career mark for blocks, as her 120 this season give her a career total of 730. The previous record was 662 by Stephanie Reimer from 1994 through 1997.

Wierzbicki, only a junior, became the Bengals all-time leader in assists, as she has 2,182 for her career, surpassing Melanie Schwartz's mark of 1,962 (1993-95). Wierzbicki also broke her own record for consecutive serves in a game with 17 against D'Youville on September 25.

Buffalo State will look to extend its winning streak this weekend at Geneseo in the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play. The Bengals went 2-2 in the first round, and sit in the middle of the pack in the hunt for a playoff spot. Three teams from the West Division qualify for the postseason with the first place team earning the right to host the championship tournament. Here are the current standings:

1. Brockport - 3-1

Geneseo - 3-1

3. Buffalo State - 2-2

Fredonia - 2-2

5. Oswego - 0-4
