Potsdam Downs Women’s Basketball, 66-54
BUFFALO, NY--Potsdam (7-4/3-0) raced out to an early lead and never looked back as it defeated host Buffalo State (5-7/1-2), 66-54, in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Sports Arena.
Cortney Poirer (Moira/Brushton-Moira) led Potsdam with 13 points and seven assists. Maureen Curley (Madrid/Madrid-Waddington) added 11 points and 14 rebounds. Katie Buzzell (Rochester/Greece-Athena) also scored 11 points, and Rachel Graf (Elbredge/Jordan-Elbridge) chipped in 10.
Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) led Buffalo State with 20 points and grabbed 13 boards. Alyssa Kinney (Medford/Bellport) tallied 11 points and had 13 rebounds, and Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) added 10 points.
Potsdam converted 14-2 run to open the game into a 30-23 halftime advantage. The Bears pushed their lead as many as 21 points in the second half and coasted to the win. Potsdam outscored the Bengals, 32-22, in the paint.
Buffalo State will host Plattsburgh tomorrow at 2 p.m., and Potsdam will play at Fredonia.
